RESUMEN: Se presenta un análisis y síntesis de los daños observados en el terreno y edificaciones ocasionados por el sismo El Mayor-Cucupah ocurrido el 4 de abril del 2010. Destaca la presencia generalizada de la licuación en el Valle de Mexicali principalmente en la cercanía de los cuerpos de agua, y en menor escala en la ciudad de Mexicali, así como la vulnerabilidad alta observada en las construcciones de adobe. Se describen las fallas observadas en construcciones de mampostería y acero estructural, así como el buen comportamiento observado en un puente urbano con aisladores sísmicos.
