ABSTRACT: The growing demand for sustainable construction practices has led to significant advancements in foundation technologies. A next-generation solution in this evolution is a novel form of Continuous Flight Auger (CFA) pile developed by Soletanche Bachy. This new piling method introduces a modified auger system that forms a perimeter rib along the shaft, enhancing load transfer while reducing concrete usage by up to 32.5% compared to traditional CFA piles. The system also enables controlled lateral soil displacement during installation, minimizing excavation spoil and reducing emissions related to material transport. T-Pile® offers an innovative foundation solution for Canada’s diverse geotechnical challenges, providing a sustainable alternative with a potential carbon footprint reduction between 14.3% and up to 46.8%. This paper explores the T-Pile® solution, highlights its potential performance in Canadian soils by adopting a bearing capacity factor, and demonstrates its role in pushing the boundaries of sustainable deep foundation construction.
