ABSTRACT: A laboratory test program was conducted to evaluate alternative borehole and instrumentation sealing options. A general guideline for a grout mixture is available, however, the effectiveness of a grout mixture with reference to the intrinsic engineering characteristics of soils for given applications has not been fully understood. The program involved testing four existing grout mixtures with three different bentonites. The specimens were tested for strength, stiffness, hydraulic conductivity, and rheological properties. The results showed variable properties from the grouts tested which could be further adjusted to address site specific requirements.
